The Interdisciplinary Centre for Research on the Phenomenon of Pilgrimage and Religious Tourism at the Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa has been operating (since 27th November 2025) in cooperation with employees of the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Kraków. It declares that it conducts open activities, inviting staff and students representing various units of the Jan Dlugosz University, as well as all persons from other environments who wish to conduct research on the phenomenon of pilgrimage and religious tourism.
Objectives:
The aim of the Centre is to research, expand, and share knowledge about the phenomenon of pilgrimage and its place in the traditions of world religions, while raising awareness of its role among students, doctoral students, employees, and, in accordance with the University's third mission, other audiences, as well as fostering respect, tolerance, and appreciation for cultural diversity.
The tasks of the Interdisciplinary Centre include, among others:
- Conducting scientific and research, educational, publishing, exhibition, and promotional activities together with employees from other academic centers in Poland and other countries.
- Organizing national and international training courses, lectures, exhibitions, conferences, as well as participating in tourism fairs in the field of pilgrimage.
- Cooperating in various areas with other scientific, local government, and religious centers, as well as other organizations from Poland and abroad that have similar goals.
- Implementation of projects commissioned by, among others, government and local government institutions, and in cooperation with other entities,
- Consultations and in-depth cooperation in the implementation of the set goals together with the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Kraków, which is regulated by an appropriate partnership agreement.
